Kockica by Data Vallis

Cookie consent
that sets itself up.

Add one line to your site. Kockica finds your trackers, blocks them until visitors agree and writes your cookie table. Free and open source.

  • Google Consent Mode v2
  • 22 languages
  • MIT licence

One script tag. Three things happen.

  1. 1

You add Kockica to the top of your page, or install it from npm.

  2. 2

Kockica looks at your page. It recognises Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, YouTube and other known trackers, holds them back and builds a banner with only the categories your site really uses.

  3. 3

Your visitor decides. Nothing optional runs before a choice. After "Accept", trackers start at once and on every next page; after "Reject", they never load.

Everything a cookie banner should do. Nothing you have to configure.

  • Finds trackers by itself.

Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, LinkedIn Insight, TikTok Pixel, YouTube, Vimeo and Google Maps - in your HTML and in tags added later by JavaScript.

  • Blocks before consent.

Scripts do not run, embeds do not load, no cookies are set. Blocked videos and maps show a short note with an "Allow and show" button.

  • A cookie table that writes itself.

Put one line on your cookie policy page; Kockica lists every cookie by category with provider, purpose and duration, in the visitor's language.

  • Google Consent Mode v2 built in.

Google tags stay loaded but cookieless until consent, as Google recommends. Prefer to block them completely? One setting.

  • 22 languages.

The banner speaks the language of your page. Each visitor downloads only that language, about 1.5 KB.

  • Small and fast.

About 22 KB (gzip) for the whole script.

  • Discreet.

A small single-colour button in the corner, or just your own "Cookie settings" link in the footer. No loud floating widget on your brand.

  • Proof of consent (optional).

Send each choice to your own endpoint. The browser sends no IP address or other personal data.

  • Works with any stack.

A script tag for WordPress, static sites and anything with a <head>; an npm package for React and Next.js, including client-side navigation.

Built to the rules regulators actually check.

  • Opt-in. Every optional category starts off. No pre-ticked boxes.
  • Reject as easy as accept. "Accept all", "Reject all" and "Settings" sit side by side on the first screen and look the same, as the EDPB Cookie Banner Taskforce expects.
  • Clear first layer. The banner names the purposes and the company responsible (the controller), as Slovenian law (ZEKom-2, art. 225) requires.
  • Withdraw any time. One click on the settings button or footer link changes or withdraws the choice.

Kockica helps you comply; it is not legal advice. Have the default texts reviewed by your data protection officer or lawyer.

Put this first in <head>:

HTML
<script

  data-site-id="my-site"
  data-controller="Example Ltd., Ljubljana"

On your cookie policy page:

HTML
<div data-kockica-cookie-table></div>

In your footer (optional):

HTML
<a href="#" data-kockica-preferences>Cookie settings</a>

Full options and the Next.js guide are in the README on npm.

FAQ

Is Kockica free?

Yes. It is open source under the MIT licence, free for any site, including commercial ones.

Do I have to list my trackers?

No, not for the 11 services above. Anything else you can mark with one attribute, and Kockica treats it the same way.

Does it block everything before consent?

It blocks every service it knows, whether it is in your HTML or added later. One browser limit: a script or embed written directly into your HTML can send its very first request before any script can stop it. Kockica stops it from loading or running; for zero requests, mark those tags (one attribute, see README).

Does Google Analytics still load before consent?

By default yes, without cookies, through Google Consent Mode v2, which is Google's recommended setup. Set googleMode: 'basic' if you want Google tags blocked until consent.

I show Google AdSense ads. Is Kockica enough?

Not for personalised ads in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Google requires a Google-certified CMP with IAB TCF for those, and Kockica is not one. Without it, Google may serve only non-personalised or limited ads.

Can I remove the "Powered by Kockica" line?

Yes, with one setting. We appreciate it if you keep it.

Who is behind it?

Data Vallis d.o.o. from Maribor, Slovenia. Kockica is built on the open-source vanilla-cookieconsent library by Orest Bida (MIT).
